Stairlift vs Home lift - which option is right for you?
Making the decision to adapt your home to meet your needs (present or future) doesn't have to be a complex one. There are many options that can be offered to ensure that you can keep active and stay comfortable in your own home. Stairlifts are an obvious option, but a home lift might be an alternative to consider...
Stairlifts vs Home lifts - what are the major differences?
A Home Lift is a domestic lift that can fit easily into just about any home.
Unlike Stairlifts, they can provide a more spacious alternative which avoids the staircase altogether. They are safe, have a small footprint, and can carry up to three people and a wheelchair if required.
Unlike conventional domestic lifts, home lifts do not use hydraulics and are powered by an electric motor that plugs straight into a normal 13-amp power socket like any other household appliance.
A home lift is a more expensive option than a Stairlift, and will require more planning along with some alterations to your home.
Why should I consider a Home lift over a Stairlift?
If you might require a wheelchair in the future due to illness or debilitation, then a home lift would enable you to move between the floors of your home without leaving your wheelchair. A stairlift would mean that you need to physically move from the wheelchair into the stairlift, requiring more effort.
A stairlift is a great option if you still have mobility but find the stairs a bit of a struggle. A stairlift can be fitted to almost any staircase, and we provide a free home assessment before advising you of the best stairlift for your needs.
