Why do I need a stairlift home assessment?

A stairlift home assessment is an important requirement, as it will help our surveyor to identify what type of stairlift will be best suited for you and your home.

An assessment is the first step in finding the right stairlift for you. With Candor Care it’s quick, easy and of course friendly!

If you don’t want to book a home assessment straight away, you can have a chat with our stairlift specialists over the phone instead, or send us some details and images of the staircase and we'll give you an estimate of cost.

Why do I need a stairlift home assessment?

During the assessment one of our specialists will ask you about your reasons for wanting a stairlift. We commonly find that these can be health or injury related, and by understanding your conditions, we will be able to ensure these are catered for with your choice or stairlift. By getting to know you and your needs a little better, we will also be able to advise on any special features that you might need for your stairlift, such as a powered swivel seat to assist getting on and off at the top.

We’ll also take a look at your staircase (of course!) taking into account any challenges that we might need to be aware of. These might include any narrow points or trapping hazards. We’ll take some measurements too and possibly some photos of the staircase so that we can evaluate which stairlift will be right. We'll measure you on a chair to establish if the width of the staircase is suitable. You might need a simple straight stairlift, or you may need a curved lift if your stairlift has a bend or two.

Aesthetically, we’ll ask what style of stairlift you would like. Some stairlifts are very discreet, with slimline designs and neutral colours. A stairlift is nothing to be ashamed of, and you may find that family and friends are keen to take it on a test drive once installed (especially the grand kids!). We’ll ask about colours, designs and features, to ensure we understand exactly what you would like for your home.

Finally, we’ll discuss price options with you, depending on the budget you have to spend. If you only want a stairlift for a short period of time, we can offer you rental options.

How long does a stairlift home assessment take?

A stairlift home assessment is actually a fairly quick process and can take as little as 30 minutes to complete. We’ll make an appointment to come and see you at whatever time is best, even if this is in the evening or at a weekend. We ensure that we offer flexible appointments to fit in with your plans. After the assessment we'll provide you with a written quotation.

Do I have to pay for a stairlift home assessment?

No, we offer this service for free and without obligation.

Who will this be carried out by?

Our home assessments are carried out by one of our surveyors who are experienced ex-installers and assessors. We don't employ commission based sales people so you won't be under pressure to buy.

We hope our latest blog helped you in understanding stairlift home assessments. If you have any questions you can call us on 0330 100 4564 or email us.
